BORSELLINO ANGELS

SCORTA  QS21

---------------------------------------

Rocco Cesareo

This film is a showpiece for the “Italian film” which is an extraordinary work with skill and sensitivity, creativity, bearing always in mind the name of “Rocco Cesareo”, a great Director.

A mysterious filmmaker, perhaps very shy and introverted, shy and reserved, or intentionally eager to create or implement a desired distance between "the author-director and the actors-performers", between "drama and pain."

Every writer (artist, director ...) in its creation should be like God in the universe: the ubiquitous but invisible. "

Gustave Flaubert

Rocco Cesareo, we know the name and city of origin: "Genova"  that has remained in his heart ever since he moved to Rome. He remains a mysterious filmmaker shy and discreet.

We know his date of birth, Genoa, 18 October 1955, but besides that, you do not know anything more.

Never a scandal not even a fine for no parking. In short, a perfect citizen.

Besides is name, drops the most densest mystery, we only know that is called Rocco Cesareo.

If we were able to know about him thanks to a masterpiece, or rather, for his masterpiece film, that helped us to speak about him. And thanks to its superb direction to bring out his qualities: humanity, sensitivity and creativity.

This puts in its own right on the same pedestal and ranked among the best Italian directors, comparable to Fratelli Rossellini, Federico and Roberto, Bernardo Bertolucci, Roberto Benigni and Massimo Troisi, Pasolini and many others.

This film is the most important and famous projection among those under his direction: "The vineyards of Meylan (1993)" "The  people of the bird " (1999)

Rocco, talks about himself  through this extraordinary work. Thanks to this film making so important and delicate of this piece of Italian history in the last fifty years.

It is a film that touches an important and sensitive issue in the history of Italy, " the mafia massacres ".

Rocco Cesareo, cleverly made use of the collaboration in the script of four talented professionals Ugo Barbàra, Paolo Zucca, Mirco Da Lio and Massimo Di Martino.

For the skill of photography he choose Bruno Cascio.

And for the sound it has gain two talented composers Elvira and John Lo Cascio, the wonderful "sound" column and its opening theme the beautiful song that accompanies the film with very close to the jazz style, which are helping to understanding the film in its historical dimension - policy in the period in which the events occurred since 1992.

So with this "team", the exceptional operators (the film industry) comes to life an unforgettable masterpiece, a "witness" film that rumbles like thunder, a quality marvel that remains faithful to the events of history, a history unfortunately "real" and tragic.

Before talking about the "cast" of the leading actors, and to outline their different personalities and roles covered, I consider it is appropriate, indeed seem right, duty, face the plot and explain what is covered in the film:"The Borsellino angels-QS stock 21” to explain what the film is about, the subject matter of the film and as the story unfolds.

Memoirs by an admirer of a meeting with Rocco Cesareo

This experience covers a meeting with Giovanna and Rocco Cesareo at an competition award ceremony.

“I had the honor of meeting Rocco on that occasion, and the first time I saw him was when he gave a lecture on cinema.

Before speaking of his work (a little about himself!) He had shown us some of his early film with a talented and popular actress.

The motivation was, to highlight that the actress perhaps despite the focus and "hailed" by the crowd (audience) actually was not a happy person!

Like any woman, she wanted to be "loved" for the simple person she was.

At the end of the vision could, modestly, answer the questions, he expected!

For me it was a great satisfaction.

In the evening during dinner in a typical local characteristic of the place, he was showing his embarrassment or discomfort in being surrounded by women.

His shyness, perhaps like the actress, he wanted to be approached as a "person", and not as an film director!

The strangest thing it was that he came to sit next to me, but I was more timid than him!

He said, that was missing "Genova", I did just talk about my daughters and my teaching, although I must be honest, I was attracted by his charisma!

Story told by my collaborator Giovanna Carossia

BORSELLINO's ANGELS

"SCORTA QS21"

History Plot

Six "guardian Angels", six policemen, that are "moving targets", who opposed the specter of a disaster waiting to happen with strength and courage, six persons who have dealt with the burden of a larger responsibility to them ... with the ardor and the “unconsciousness!” … of youth.

All tight around their judge, the uncomfortable magistrate "Paolo Borsellino" to be eliminated at any cost and by any means, a "condemned to death" an "intended victim" aware of being the next target.

You cannot address the figure of Paolo Borsellino, did not remember the childhood friend, almost the same age and companion of fight against the Mafia: Giovanni Falcone, the two magistrate were an inseparable pair, it is difficult, in fact "to separate this binomial" impossible, because they are "two heroes of legality and justice", as both were in possession of "hot truth", the "inconvenient secrets" ... not only for the Mafia but also for corrupt senior policymakers.

So much that the mafia will made disappear the evidence, the diary of Falcone and Borsellino's red diary.

The film tells the chronicle of the 57 days separating the Capaci massacre by one of Via D'Amelio n° 19.

The first judge that lost his life “Giovanni Falcone”, a true "Mastiff", against the Mafia, but also one of us, with the problems and failures of all, however, but with the advantage of serving the state fair.

In the massacre of Via D'Amelio, the area in front of the house of  Paolo Borsellino’s mother Maria Pia, July 19, 1992, he was killed just two months after the death of his friend Giovanni, another "honest and courageous judge," and deputy prosecutor.

A few days before he was killed, during a meeting organized by the magazine "MicroMega", as well as in a television interview to Lamberto Sposini a known journalist, Borsellino had spoken of his conditions “the feeling” of "sentenced to death".

He knew to being targeted by "Cosa Nostra" and knew that the mafia is hardly forgetting out her drawn victims. Sometime he said "I have to hurry, because now it's my turn."

These two crimes both signed by the Mafia, indelibly marked the recent history of the Italian Republic.

The film brings to life the dramatic period, that’s wrote one of the blackest pages of our country.

Through the story of Emanuela, through her eyes, reviewing pictures of those days, and was as if threw on the screen herself, those indelible memories.

The main character, played by the talented "Brigitta Broccoli".

Emanuela was only 24 years old, was born on October 9, 1967 in Sestu, a town a few kilometers from Cagliari, in Sardinia, a young and brave policewoman, who loved his homeland and may not be marked to wear the uniform, perhaps she had other plans, "marriage is the construction of a family" and in any case an entire "life" a living.

To the parents that worried about her assignment, she had said: "It's my job, I cannot withdraw."

Was sent against his will a distant city, "more morally and physically ...", doing a dangerous job, "the escorting officer" that although it was not her dream, she tried to play the best!

Was the first woman police officer to play a role, a so risky task: the protection of an important magistrate.

She was "the woman beside Paolo until the end".

"They gave me for escort a girl, who falls to the ground with a puff", joked Borsellino.

Along with his teammates, the prosecutor he was part of the escort QS 21 "Fourth Savona21".

Manuela”, as she was known by his friends, actually she had to change his mind so much on those 57 days. Those special days became facts of complicity, friendships and games, ties and marriages, in fact within the group formed such strong relationships to succeed in built in less than two months, what many people fail to achieve in a lifetime.

And it is this aspect that the wise direction of "Rocco Cesareo" highlighted: the disruptive power and desire to live a united and compact group united both by the fear that the suspect, both the forces of life, the fear of death.

And perhaps, the secret that the bond was so intense it is to be found in brevity but above all the intensity of that period, of those 57 days full of emotions.

The films "witness", is a tribute to the courage, the spirit of self-denial and sacrifice of all young agents of "scorta" dead as a result of "mafia attacks: "Angels and heroes."

The director with great capacity for empathy, was able to capture these aspects, tracing diverse personalities and different, and being able to distill "wonderful little things, like jewels forged by fire"

It was a great performance by the "actors", all from the theater, film and television: "Brigitta Boccoli in the role of Emanuela Loi", "Toni Garrani in the role of Paolo Borsellino", "Pino Insegno as  Augustine" , "Catalano Alessandro Prete as Cosimo", "Vincenzo Ferrero in the part by Vincenzo Li Muli", "Cristiano Morroni in the part of Claudio Traina", "Francesco Guzzo Antonio in the part of Nullo","Sebastiano Lo Monaco in the part of ' chief inspector ", “Ernesto Mahuix in the part by Vincenzo” "Benedicta Boccoli in the part of Claudia Loi" sister of Emanuela Loi.

The actors were able to immerse themselves fully in their assigned parts, providing proof of great skill and professionalism, the role was prominent, as in the case of "Emanuela Loi", both parts, so to speak of the second floor! Although in this case, all are protagonists, because they were the "Angels of Borsellino."

They surprised us by their talents and their interpretive skills, as you will read below in the detailed and individual description for each of them.

Of "Brigitta Broccoli" was written: "Enter into her character as a shining dewdrop, slipping from a leaf under a moonbeam."

The images, which alternate on the screen, are overflowing with understanding and humanity, sometimes subtle irony, perhaps to defuse the fear of death and the colors that light up the darkest moments, managing to give a tangible feeling that no other where the pain it borders is so obscure as not to let a ray of sunshine.

They reminded of the words rich in meaning, spoken by "Giovanni Falcone": "Men pass, the ideas remain. They moral tensions remain and continue to walk on the legs of other men. "

Conclusion

Today, who are the brave men ... willing to risk their lives for the values?

But ... it suits us, or rather to some suits when we talk about "personal responsibility", to be part of a blur, faceless, identity.
Although the masks ... or the faces hidden behind masks are there, and
apparently free from burdens and faults.

Probably this is the big question that modern man must ask themself: “Under what circumstances, at what time "I" become mass?

Brigitta Boccoli  “Emanuela

It's hard to write about this actress, since her life is tied to the Circus "ORFEI", being married to the son of "Moira Orfei" lion tamer.

Brigitta her work to be primarily related to the Television branch, where she performed as a "showgirl".

But after this test of skill and "interpretation" shown: an ability, interpretative, his natural artistic vitality exploded in all its naturalness.

In the film "The Angels of Borsellino" she has been able to play the part of Emanuela in an exemplary manner, leading to adhere perfectly to the part with a realism.

A difficult role that it was granted, but "Brigitta Boccoli" as a great and intelligent actress managed to enter efficiently and especially stubbornly in the part of the police officer, so much that has been written: "Enter into her character as a shining drop of dew that slips from a leaf under a moonbeam "

Toni Garrani Paolo Borsellino

Tony is a "family acting tradition", in fact, the father is the famous actor "Ivo Garrani" so the love for acting belongs to its DNA.

In his beautiful and not easy to interpret the Judge Paolo Borsellino, he was able to give an exceptional portrait, and beautifully make quality and features of the character of this servant of the state with great respect and authenticity.

The figure of the "Judge Borsellino", through his interpretation is immersed with all its prerogatives: combative, friendly, determined, brave and so on. Almost a painting with a brush!

Pino InsegnoAgostino Catalano

I must admit that, I was puzzled, knowing this actor on television as a conductor  but above all as a comic character with a strong ability to communicate with the public.

But I was surprised and I had to reverse my puzzle, knowing his sympathy, but I never thought he could identify with such an important and serious role, it was a real surprise! The actor has been able to make his character beautifully "Agostino Catalano", so close to the real "Agostino" making it a unique interpretation.

With these words, it seems not to pay tribute to this great actor and this finding is not a compliment.

Pino, leaves the comic mask and smiling, while in the shoes of "Agostino Catalano," the escort head, an intense man, stern but also sweet and protective, trying to relieve gently and sometimes with irony, the difficult emotional situation "his" boys.

Congratulations to the director "Rocco Cesareo" for having chosen him.

Alessandro PreteEddie Cosina

The gorgeous, beautiful and superb interpretation of "Alessandro" highlights his qualities as a successful actor.

It emerges such a sensitivity, which goes straight to the heart of the viewer, with his smile and a gesture, seize its expressiveness.

Vincenzo Ferrera  “Vincenzo Li Muli

This is his first film, ever; maybe he thought to play a part so important and demanding.

He has worked very well, successfully forging a likeable character and providing a quality test, revealing an exceptional actor.

* * *

Cristiano Morroni  “Claudio Traina

In the interpretation of Cristiano, you notice the result of careful work, which has allowed him to fully immerse himself in the role of "Claudio Traina" Therefore, I believe that all received awards, as an actor, in his artistic career are well deserved.

* * *

Francesco GuzzoAntonio Vullo

Francesco Guzzo work, in the part of the police escort in this film about the Mafia, have not created him any difficulties, having already produced and having some experience in these roles, his acting marks another big step in for his artistic career.

* * *

Sebastiano Lo MonacoIspettore Capo

Its perfect performance as "the Chief Inspector" is a life result of hard and careful preparation and completed studies at "the National Academy of Dramatic Art".

The actor fully recognizes the peculiarities of the character.

I must admit that I expected from critics, a greater response, and a livelier enthusiasm, with the consequence of subsequent recognition.

Ernesto MahieuxVincenzi

Entrust such an important part to an actor known for having played comic roles, is  a bit 'an oddity or so might seem.

But in this film, the actor, was able to dive in and tackle the repentant informant  part in a superlative way.

Although the interpretation is too short, Ernesto Mahieux showed all his skill and became one of the most recognizable faces in the history of the Mafia, and in the "movies" films and in television.

* * *

Benedicta Boccoli  “Sorella della Loi

The part of "Loi" sister, (the policewoman "Emanuela") has been entrusted to the beautiful actress Benedicta Boccoli, she is the Brigitta Boccoli’s sister in real life.

Her performance was perfect and perhaps facilitated by this sisterwood.

Rightly deserving its participation in this film.

And I must admit that his performance came directly to the heart, art that touches the soul.

CONCLUSION

The production signed by "Silva film" deserves our gratitude for having been able  to offer this excellent production.

I wished for them a prize, an award for meritorious production.

I wish to recall "The Angels of Borsellino, escort QS21" was supported by the "Ministry of National Heritage and Cultural activities MiBAC" national cultural interest.

But it suits us, to some it suits them, when it comes to "Personal Responsibility" to be part of a blur-free "face" identity, even if ... "masks" at times and there are apparently " free "from burdens and faults.

Probably this is the "big question" that modern man must ask himself:
"Under what circumstances, at what time I get grounded."
